He is a previous WBFF pro and #TeamTrifocus brand ambassador. He\u00a0owns\u00a0his own fitness studio. Jacques has\u00a0one of the best physiques in the fitness indstury and is\u00a0one of the most professional athletes around. We catch up with him to find out more about his fitness journey\u00a0as well as\u00a0his goals and plans.<\/p>\n<h2>#TeamTrifocus Jacques\u2019 Basic Stats:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Age:<\/strong> 32<br \/>\n<strong>Height:<\/strong> 1.84m<br \/>\n<strong>Weight:<\/strong> 85kg<br \/>\n<strong>Occupation\/Profession:<\/strong> Fitness studio owner<\/p>\n<h2>Tell us more about your background in the fitness industry and your journey so far<\/h2>\n<p>I am a former Capetonian but over the last few years, I\u2019ve found my feet in Pretoria. The\u00a03Ds are what I live by: discipline, dedication and determination. I am a keen sportsman and represented my province on a provincial rugby level. This included playing for the WP Sevens and WP U\/21 teams. In addition, I\u00a0hold the record for the winning the most male fitness\u00a0titles in South Africa. I am a former WBFF PRO Fitness Athlete. At the moment,\u00a0I am competing in the IFBB Men\u2019s Physique division.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Tell us more about why you love competing<\/h2>\n<p>Being fit and healthy means that you need to have a goal and you need to be motivated to reach that goal. Competing in fitness competitions helps\u00a0to keep me on my fitness track.<\/p>\n<h2>How has being part of #TeamTriocus advanced your career?<\/h2>\n<p>#TeamTrifocus guides me. They\u00a0give me the much-needed knowledge to understand people\u2019s needs better. #TeamTrivocus\u00a0fitness courses have given me the competitive edge so that I can advance in my fitness career.<\/p>\n<h2>Which Trifocus Fitness Academyh courses did you do\/are you in the process of doing?<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m busy with the Specialised Nutrition Course as well as certifying as a personal trainer.<\/p>\n<h2>What is your favourite exercise and why?<\/h2>\n<p>I absolutely love the\u00a0Bench Press. This is because my chest has always been my strongest point. Here&#8217;s how to do a variation of the Bench Press &#8211; the Smith Machine Incline Bench Press &#8211;\u00a0correctly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Put\u00a0an incline bench under the Smith machine bar. (<em>You can choose if you want the bench to be in a flat, incline or decline position<\/em>.)<\/li>\n<li>Extend your\u00a0arms must to a 90-degree angle.<\/li>\n<li>Hold\u00a0the bar shoulder width apart. Use a neutral underhand grip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Movement<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Lower the bar down slowly to your chest. Do this\u00a0by flexing your elbows.<\/li>\n<li>When the bar reaches your chest, pause for a second and return the bar to your starting position.<\/li>\n<li>Perform as many reps necessary for the results you want to achieve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Safety Tips<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure that you don&#8217;t\u00a0elevate your shoulders.<\/li>\n<li>The bar must be\u00a0in line with your mid-chest area.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t hyperextend your neck.<\/li>\n<li>Cue your wrists, elbows and posterior deltoids.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t hyperextend your lower back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JkmTkvNZlz0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here <\/a>to watch a video of this exercise.<\/p>\n<h2>What is your favourite body part to train?<\/h2>\n<p>At the moment I focus a lot on my back and shoulders.\u00a0These are\u00a0my weak body parts. I love sculpting my physique through hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n<h2>What is your prefered type of exercise\/training?<\/h2>\n<p>I love a combination of high-repetition combo training and weight training. Through this I train\u00a0two muscle groups a day.<\/p>\n<h2>How do you stay in shape?<\/h2>\n<p>I follow a healthy, balanced diet. This\u00a0is key to stay in shape. Consistency is essential in making sure that I maintain my body and physique. Training five to six days a week helps burn those extra calories if I sometimes over-indulge.<\/p>\n<h2>Do you have any advice for aspiring fitness models or someone thinking of competing?<\/h2>\n<p>Be consistent, be dedicated, be disciplined, be committed to learn on fitness courses and &#8211; above all &#8211; work hard.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to competing, every single fitness show is a learning curve. You&#8217;re always compete against yourself. Make sure you follow a diet and training plan that is maintainable and sustainable. Gain fitness knowledge &#8211;\u00a0it makes prepping for a show so much easier.<\/p>\n<h2>What is the most valuable knowledge you have learned from your\u00a0#TeamTrifocus fitness courses?<\/h2>\n<p>Knowledge is power and educating yourself is not only vital for survival but for personal development and human interaction. The #TeamTrifocus nutritional course guides me about the fundamental elements we need for personal well-being. 80% of our physical goals are based on nutrition.<\/p>\n<h2>Which fitness course\/courses from #TeamTrifocus would you recommend to others, and why?<\/h2>\n<p>As I said earlier, at the moment I\u2019m busy with the personal training and nutrition course. These fitness courses provide a good basis for anyone wanting to start out in the fitness industry.<\/p>\n<h2>What advice do you have for newbies\/people just embarking on their journey in the fitness industry?<\/h2>\n<p>LEARN, LEARN, LEARN!\u00a0Put yourself out there and step out of your comfort zone.\u00a0Trial and error, as well as\u00a0understanding your body, are\u00a0crucial in the beginning.\u00a0Focus on the 3Ds: dedication, discipline\u00a0and determination. Work hard. Life rewards you when you put in the effort. Your body, mind and\u00a0soul are the most important projects you will have to work on for the rest of your life. It\u2019s not a short-term goal.
