Last week, we sat down with him to discover what makes him tick.<\/p>\n<h2>Tell me more about your background in the fitness industry and your journey so far<\/h2>\n<p>I started out in the fitness industry through the world of bodybuilding. This was\u00a011 years ago. I was\u00a021 at the time and haven&#8217;t looked back since.\u00a0My aim was always self-improvement rather than to win a fitness competition or a trophy.\u00a0I have come a long way: I used to weigh\u00a058kg and now &#8211; thanks to bodybuilding &#8211; I am a healthy 82kg and am enjoying every minute of it.<\/p>\n<h2>Tell\u00a0us more about why you love the fitness lifestyle<\/h2>\n<p>Being\u00a0fit and healthy gives\u00a0me the self-confidence to take on the world in everything that I do. Living the type of life that I do helps me to achieve my career and life goals.<\/p>\n<h2>How has #TeamTrifocus advanced your fitness career and\/or passion<\/h2>\n<p>The science behind sport and fitness is amazing. The sad thing\u00a0is that\u00a0very few people realises this. Being fit is about so much more than just pumping iron. Trifocus Fitness Academy\u00a0opened the door to the world of fitness\u00a0knowledge for me . The indepth training gained from\u00a0#TeamTrifocus will enable me to follow a lifelong passion of mine which is to become a personal trainer.<\/p>\n<h2>Which #TeamTrifocus courses did you do\/are you doing?<\/h2>\n<p>I am busy doing the <a href=\"https:\/\/trifocusfitnessacademy.co.za\/course\/specialised-courses\/personal-training-certificate\/\">Personal Training Certification<\/a> and the<a href=\"https:\/\/trifocusfitnessacademy.co.za\/course\/specialised-courses\/personal-training-diploma\/\"> Personal Training Diploma <\/a>through Trifocus Fitness Academy.<\/p>\n<h2>What is your favorite exercise and why?<\/h2>\n<p>My favourite exercise, without a doubt, has to be tricep dips. The reason? This movement isolates the muscle beautifully and gives it a great workout.\u00a0Here&#8217;s the correct form for the tricep dip:<\/p>\n<h3>Preparation For The Tricep Dip<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Sit on the inside of one of two benches. Place these\u00a0parallel to each other. They must be\u00a0slightly less than leg&#8217;s length apart.<\/li>\n<li>Put your hands on the edge of the bench and straighten your arms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Tricep Dip Movement<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Slide your buttocks off the bench.<\/li>\n<li>Position your heels on the adjacent bench with your legs straight.<\/li>\n<li>Bend your arms until you feel the contraction in your triceps.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly straighten your arms until you reach your starting position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Safety Tips For Tricep Dips<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Be syre to monitor your scapulae and elbows.<\/li>\n<li>At all times, keep your\u00a0abdominals engaged.<\/li>\n<li>Your elbows must remain at your sides udirng the entire exercise.<\/li>\n<li>Spot at the bar.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t strain your trapezius muscles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Check out my fellow #TeamTrifocus team mate, Tanya de Lange, perform the perfect tricep dip:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KOXLxk1GfOQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>What is your favourite body part to train?<\/h2>\n<p>Without a doubt, my favourite body part to train is my chest.<\/p>\n<h2>What is your prefered type of exercise\/training?<\/h2>\n<p>I prefer the &#8220;old-style exercises&#8221;, for example <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mensfitness.com\/training\/build-muscle\/15-best-bodyweight-exercises-men\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bodyweight exercises<\/a>\u00a0such as the push-up, squat and lunge. I\u00a0mostly stay in the eight to 12 rep range and use weights that are not too heavy but I can still feel that I&#8217;m lifting something.<\/p>\n<h2>How do you stay in shape?<\/h2>\n<p>I stay in shape through a manageable, healthy diet. I train four to six times a week. My workouts usually consist of weight training.<\/p>\n<h2>Do you have any advice for anyone looking to get healthy, aspiring fitness models or someone thinking of competing?<\/h2>\n<p>Make sure that everything you do has a purpose. You need to be passionate about what you do. If this is in place,\u00a0the rest will be easy. As long as you are getting fit and healthy, or wanting to compete, for yourself &#8211; and nobody else &#8211; you&#8217;ll go far.<\/p>\n<h2>What is the most valuable fitness knowledge you have learned from your #TeamTrifocus fitness courses?<\/h2>\n<p>Trifocus Fitness Academy, through the fitness courses I have done with them, has equipped\u00a0me\u00a0with the\u00a0valuable fitness knowledge that has enabled me to pursue my passion for fitness.<\/p>\n<h2>Which #TeamTrifocus fitness course(s) would you recommend to others, and why?<\/h2>\n<p>There are so many courses to choose from at Trifocus Fitness Academy. Each of them have their own unique and exceptional characteristics.\u00a0This means that my answer would depend\u00a0on who the person asking the question is, what their interests are as well as\u00a0their position in the field. As a starting point I would recommend the Specialised Nutrition Course to all. This is because knowing what you eat, and why, is of the\u00a0utmost importance.<\/p>\n<h2>What advice do you have for newbies\/people just embarking on their journey in the fitness industry?<\/h2>\n<p>All the fitness\u00a0experts were also once beginners. Keep on taking it one step at a time and never give up.
